Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Haashim Domingo says he is looking to build on his man of the match performance in the draw against Cape Town City with three points against SuperSport United in Wednesday’s Tshwane derby.
The Brazilians come into the clash with a five-point lead on second placed Stellenbosch United and an eight-point lead on opponents SuperSport, with Downs still holding a game in hand on the rest of the league.
With the Brazilians still unbeaten and still to concede a goal in the league this season, Domingo is keen to keep up the momentum by getting back to winning ways against Matsatsantsa after dropping points against City at the weekend.
“[The aim for me] is just to continue with where I left off in terms of fitness, I can build on that and I will definitely be taking the confidence with me going into the next game. It’s really important that we get the results with this one, it was difficult to get results against Cape Town City but with this one we need to go all out and look for the three points.” Domingo told the Downs media team.
“I think their midfield will be the key, it consists of Teboho Mokwena, Sipho Mbule [whilst] Thamsanqa Gabuza and Bradley Grobler upfront and it will give them that key aerial presence. I expect that it’s going to be a direct performance from them in terms of long balls and playing on the second ball. I think we need to stay very tight, pick up the second ball and establish play from there.”
“We are taking it day by day, we’ve analyzed SuperSport, we know what they are coming with and we just need to come up with solutions and that’s what we are working towards,” the midfielder concluded.
