SuperSport United have confirmed that New Zealand defender Michael Boxall have parted ways, with immediate effect.
The clubs revealed that negotiations between Matsatsantsa and Boxall broke down after the club were unable to agree terms with the defender.
SuperSport CEO Stanley Matthews revealed that Boxall was offered an ”amended option”, however the defender opted against taking the offer.
”We had an option on Michael’s contract, which we did not want to exercise unconditionally. We offered him an amended option, which he has declined, a decision which we respect,” Matthews said.
”Michael served us extremely well in his time at the club, we wish him every success in his future.”
The 28-year-old helped Matsatsantsa to win back to back Nedbank Cup trophies in his two-year spell, racking up 68 appearances in all competitions, while netting five goals and assisting a further three in the process.
