Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane says Kaitano Tembo deserves a chance to prove himself as the new head coach of SuperSport United.

Tembo served as Matsatsantsa assistant coach last campaign before taking over the helm as interim coach following Eric Tinkler’s departure in March and helped the club secure a top-eight finish in the Absa Premiership.
The 48-year-old coach has been in charge for three matches and has beaten AmaZulu and Orlando Pirates while conceding defeat to Cape Town City.
Mosimane believes Tembo should be given the same chance as Stuart Baxter, Cavin Johnson and Gordon Igesund, despite their unsuccessful spells at Matsatsantsa.

‘He must hang in there. They must give him a chance, the same chance they gave to Stuart Baxter. I remember we beat them 5-0 with Stuart and he was never removed. So give Kaitano a chance also, like you gave Cavin Johnson a chance, like you gave Gordon a chance. So they must give him a chance,’ Mosimane told KickOff.com.
‘For blacks sometimes the guillotine is close to your neck. One loss, one draw and you say “no we don’t have confidence in this guy”. It’s important for me to fight for our local coaches. Anybody can come from Belgium or whatever and he gets 12 games, but our brothers here… you know the story of Chippa with Dan Malesela. It’s very tough for the local coaches.’
