Orlando Pirates attacker Thembinkosi Lorch believes that the Buccaneers stand a good chance of winning the Absa Premiership title this season.
The Buccaneers extended their unbeaten run to six games in the league following their 2-0 victory over Black Leopards at the Orlando Stadium on Wednesday evening.
The win sees Milutin Sredojevic’s men stretch their lead over Mamelodi Sundowns at the top of the league standings to three points, although the Brazilians have two games in hand due to their commitments in the Caf Champions League.
Lorch, who was named Man of the Match, returned from his one-match suspension to score Pirates second goal in the 80th minute to put the game to bed.
‘I’d like to thank God for the talent and the opportunity that he gave me, also I’d like to the thank the technical team and the supporters for supporting me,’ Lorch told SuperSport TV after the game.
‘We had a plan for this game, we know we’re playing a good team [Black ] Leopards. They move all over the pitch, it was difficult but we managed to score the first goal,” he continued.
‘We knew they were going to come at us and so we had to play on transition. It worked for us. It’s important not to concede and score goals because the goals will help us [in case of tied points at the end of the season].
‘We can win the league, we have to win the league. The belief is there. Even the coaches told us we must keep on believing, work hard and the results will come.’
Orlando Pirates will now play hosts to Free State Stars when the two sides lock horns at the Orlando Stadium on Saturday with kick off scheduled for 8:15pm.
