Mamelodi Sundowns winger Aubrey Ngoma has warned his side not to underestimate title rivals Free State Stars at Loftus Versfeld Stadium on Wednesday.
The Brazilians currently occupy first place in the Absa Premiership standings with 38 points after 20 games, while Ea Lla Koto are placed fourth on the table four points behind the log leaders.
Ngoma has urged Sundowns to prevent Stars from walking away with points at Loftus Versfeld Stadium to extend their lead at the top of the standings.
“We have to take that into consideration if a team is competing with you, you make sure you do not allow them to get points from you,” Ngoma told KickOff.com.
“If we don’t beat them, we must make sure that they don’t win. I think that’s what we did with the two previous fixtures and I don’t think it is going to be different now.
“We don’t want teams to get closer and closer to us. We have to go to this game bearing in mind that it is a team that is competing with us. So they can’t get any points from us, we have to win the game at all cost.”
The 28-year-old has warned his side not to underestimate the ability of Ea Lla Koto, having won five out of their last seven games in the PSL.
“They have done very well for themselves to get such a good run so far up until now,” he added.
“You can never undermine or underestimate their capabilities and their form at the moment. They are a team that is playing well and getting results.
“So we have to play very well, prepare like we do with other teams. Iit’s going to be a tough game but I think we will be prepared. By the time the game finishes hopefully we would have got the three points.”
Mamelodi Sundowns against Free State Stars kicks off at 19:30.
