Marshall Munetsi has made mention of Orlando Pirates’ wholesale changes in their 2-1 victory against Polokwane City, saying that the coach has prepared everybody in the team to play at anytime.
Miltuin Sredojevic made a number of changes to the team that secured a 3-1 victory against AmaZulu to reach the Telkom Knockout semi-finals with regulars Ben Motshwari, Innocent Maela, Xola Mlambo and Vincent Pule all being rested to give the likes of Linda Mntambo, Mpho Makola, Marcelo Da Silva and Thabo Qalinge starting berths.
Munetsi was awarded the man-of-the-match accolade for his efforts in defence and the Zimbabwean defender says Pirates’ victory boils down to excellent match preparation for their opponents.
‘I’d like to thank God for giving me this talent and opportunity to represent this great club and also I’d like to thank the coaches for having faith in me and giving me this opportunity to play,’ he said in post-match comments.
‘We were training hard, we knew that we were conceding a lot of goals. We had to sort that out and make sure that we are solid. We knew their formation and how they were going to play so it was not that difficult to play with three at the back. We made sure that we cut their spaces for [Rodney] Ramagalela and Jabulani Maluleke especially when they are on counter-attacks because they were defending deep in their half.”
‘The coaches always prepares us that in any time you can play any game because we have a lot of games and we have a big squad and big players. So you have to be up when they tell you to play,” he added.
‘We’ll have to take it one game at a time and see how it goes,’ he concluded.
