We never showed up – De Sa

Platinum Stars coach Roger De Sa Roger De Sa
Published on January 21, 2018

Platinum Stars coach Roger De Sa admits that his side were second best to Mamelodi Sundowns following their 3-0 defeat at Loftus Versfeld Stadium on Saturday.

Dikwena conceded their ninth defeat in the Absa Premiership after a brace from Khama Billiat and a single goal from Sibusiso Vilakazi helped Sundowns claim all three points at home.

De Sa felt admits that Sundowns quality proved too much for his side to handle, stating his side were ‘second-best all round’.

“I thought we were second-best all round. We can’t complain too much. You could argue that the second half was better the damage was done already. They probably took the foot off the accelerator a bit and we were up against it from the word go,” De Sa told SuperSport TV after the game.

“I thought Vilakazi’s goal was a cracker we can’t take that away from him and the free-kicks were great goals we can’t argue too much. Overall we weren’t up to it. We never showed up and the quality [of Sundowns] showed up.

“We did get better in the second half but it was not good enough when you’re 3-0 down at halftime against a quality team like Sundowns away from home it’s too much to climb. We have to take our hats off to them. They were great and have a fantastic squad. They’ve got every player that’s available. Well done to them.”

De Sa also opened up about the rumours regarding the sale of the club.

“We hear the rumours the same as you read. Exactly the same. No different. Every day we see the newspaper and we read something else but the club is for sale it will probably be taken over soon but until then we gotta battle on and see what we can do,” he added.

“The players are paid everyone is contracted. Nothing has changed. We keep on going the same way nothing has changed.”
