SuperSport United captain Ronwen Williams insists his side is ready for a fight when they face Mamelodi Sundowns in the Tshwane derby on Wednesday.
Matsatsantsa are looking to bounce back from defeat against Marumo Gallants but getting back to winning day in the midweek clash against the unbeaten defending champions.
Despite sitting eight points behind their city rivals, Williams is adamant that his side will be ready to put up a fight at Loftus Versfeld Stadium to try and bridge the gap to the top of the standings.
“They are the champions and have been doing well throughout the season. They haven’t conceded, so it shows the work they’re putting in on the training ground is working for them,” Williams said.
“We are going to go there and fight. We’ve got our own ambitions and targets.
“Obviously we’ve let ourselves down in our previous results, especially losing at home. We want to go out there and rectify our mistakes and give a better account of ourselves.
“We’re going to go out there and fight as much as we respect them we need to go there and fight and battle. We’re not going to go there and make it easy for them. We need to get the points on the board and close the gap.
“They are on top, so we want to close the gap and like I said we have our own targets. We’re going to go there and fight and hopefully give a much better performance than the previous one,” Williams added.
