Tiyani Mabunda says he is looking forward to going all the way and winning the Absa Premiership title at the end of the season with Mamelodi Sundowns.
The Brazilians maintained their place at the top of the PSL standings after claiming a 2-0 victory over Chippa United at Loftus Versfeld Stadium through goals in either half from Percy Tau and Khama Billiat.
Mabunda believes his side have learnt from their mistakes after losing the PSL title to Bidvest Wits last season.
“I’d like to honour the grace of my father. I’d like to thank God for giving me life in order to to portray his power in the field of play,” Mabunda told SuperSport TV after the game.
“The games that are remaining for us are not going to be easy. You know many people are after our heads. But we have been in this situation before and are looking forward to going all the way.
“Last season, we lost the title because of a similar situation like this one. We were relaxed, we thought we had won it before we played the matches. But we have learned from our mistakes. The coach has upped his game where he is pushing us to a level where we know what we are responsible for. We know that God will always give us grace as long as we are doing well.
“Many people complain about fatigue but it’s all in the mind. We have a strong technical team.”
Mamelodi Sundowns will be hoping to extend their lead at the top of the Absa Premiership table when they take on Baroka at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Sunday, with kick-off set for 15:00.
