Orlando Pirates goalkeeper Jackson Mabokgwane says his side were well prepared for their mouth-watering encounter against Mamelodi Sundowns on Saturday.
The Buccaneers claimed their sixth win in the Absa Premiership after defeating Sundowns 3-1 at Loftus Versfeld Stadium on Saturday when goals from Ntsikelelo Nyauza, Mpho Makola and Luvuyo Memela cancelled out Percy Tau’s 38th minute goal.
Man of the Match, Mabokgwane says his side were confident they would beat Pitso Mosimane’s side and collect all three points on the day.
“Thanks to the Almighty God for the opportunity and talent. All credit to the boys. It was a difficult match. We knew we were going to win it because we prepared well for this game. The boys worked hard. The technical made sure we are well prepared for this game,” Mabokgwane told SuperSport TV.
“The moment they couldn’t come through, I knew we were going to win it. They kept on coming and coming but we took two early leads. We made sure we stayed compact. We planned very well. We knew their moves, we knew how they play. In the second half both teams started getting tired it was hot. Congratulations to the Orlando Pirates family I’m so happy for them.
“For me personally, it means I’m on the right track. I’m doing the right things and I should keep going and work even harder.”
