Bidvest Wits coach Gavin Hunt believes the Clever Boys will decide who walks away with the Absa Premiership title at the end of the season.
The Clever Boys currently occupy 13th place in the Absa Premiership standings with 21 points, having won five out of 19 games played so far this campaign.
Hunt admits that Pitso Mosimane’s side are front runners to claim the Absa Premiership title as they currently hold a four points lead over Cape Town City at the top of the table.
“The gap [at the top] is quite big, isn’t it? There’s a lot of games to go – I mean, 11, the gap is quite big,” Hunt told KickOff.com.
“Sundowns are in the driver’s seat and again, teams who are there and could’ve got closer dropped points last night.
“It looks like we’re handing it [the title] to Sundowns at the moment, so it’ll be difficult for anyone to catch up.”
The Wits mentor believes his side holds the faith of the PSL title in their hands with his side yet to play the top teams in the second half of the season.
“One thing’s for sure, we will determine who will win the league, because we’ve got to play all these teams – that’s for sure,” he added.
“We’ve got the capacity – we might not do it, but we’ve got the capacity to beat anybody.
“The biggest problem is that there’s still no consistency in our league. You can’t expect to win every game, and the top team, who’ve spent [big money], they’re not really dominating every game, so this league is very, very close, in terms of top to bottom.”
Bidvest Wits will now welcome Kaizer Chiefs to the Bidvest Stadium when the two sides meet in the Absa Premiership on Saturday, with kick-off scheduled for 18:00.
