Cape Town City midfielder Teko Modise hopes his side can upset Mamelodi Sundowns at Athlone Stadium and close the gap at the top of the PSL table.
The Citizens currently occupy second place in the Absa Premiership standing with 31 points, trailing log leaders Sundowns by four points.
Modise says his side will try to minimize the point difference between them and the Brazilians when they lock horns on Friday.
“It is a very important game, they are on top of the log and we are a few points behind,” Modise told the media.
“The aim and ambition is to try and minimise the points between (us and) the first position, that’s why it is going to be important for us to get a good result against Sundowns even though we know the qualities that they have and they are such a good team.
“We are also a very good team with so much ambition but on the day, whoever wants it more will win the game.
“We are playing very well but one thing that is disappointing is that we are not scoring as many goals as we are supposed to and hopefully on the day we can cause an upset,” he concluded.
The match at Athlone Stadium kicks off at 20:00.
