SuperSport United goalkeeper Ronwen Williams is hoping to make a lasting impact with Bafana Bafana under coach Stuart Baxter.
The 25-year-old was called up for the 2018 World Cup qualifiers against Cape Verde alongside former Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Reyaad Pieterse and Orlando Pirates keeper Wayne Sandilands.
The absence of Itumeleng Khune and Darren Keet due to injury serves as an ideal opportunity for Williams to avenge his woeful debut, which saw him concede five goals against a Neymar-inspired Brazil outfit four years ago.
“Things are looking up for me now with coach Stuart Baxter there and he knows me well,” the shot-stopper told KickOff.
“He knows what I can do, he knows me well. Obviously I haven’t had the best Bafana Bafana record so far.
“Hopefully that can change with coach Stuart there and hopefully I can cement my place this season,” he concluded.
Bafana face Cape Verde on Friday night before hosting the return leg at Durban’s Moses Mabhida Stadium four days later.
