Orlando Pirates goalkeeper Jackson Mabokgwane says the Buccaneers won’t let their recent form get the better of them ahead of their Soweto derby against Kaizer Chiefs.
The Buccaneers are currently placed second in the Absa Premiership standings with 36 points, while Amakhosi occupy third place, one point behind their Soweto rivals.
Mabokgwane will be hoping his side’s can continue their recent form, having claimed maximum points in their last three PSL matches against Maritzburg United, Ajax Cape Town and Chippa United respectively.
“The mood in camp is good. We are playing well and have had good results of late. But we aren’t letting that get ahead of us,” Mabokgwane told the media.
The Pirates shot-stopper says he is looking forward to playing in his first Soweto derby since joining the club from Mpumalanga Black Aces on 13 July 2016.
‘If I play, it will be my first derby so I’ll be looking forward to it. I’m excited because the magnitude of the game is huge. Especially for the fans because they get the bragging rights if we win. It’s a big game for us all.’
Orlando Pirates are now set to go head-to-head with Kaizer Chiefs in a mouth-watering Soweto derby at the FNB Stadium on Saturday, with kick-off set for 15:30.
