Amajita claimed their seventh U20 Cosafa Cup title after defeating Zimbabwe 4-3 on penalties.
South Africa went into the clash on the back of a number of impressive results and they blitzed their opponents en route to the final. Indicative of their domination, Amajita netted 10 goals in three matches, while managing to keep clean sheets in all of them.
The defending champions got off to the brighter start of the two sides as Nkosingiphile Ngcobo went agonisingly close after five minutes.
Zimbabwe were not content to let South Africa do all the attacking and launched a few attacks of their own, but it was met with resilience from Amajita, who managed to thwart any danger from their counterparts.
Zimbabwe broke the deadlock in the second stanza when Delic Murimba managed to evade the defence before slotting home.
Amajita upped their tempo and were rewarded in the final ten minutes of the game when Orlando Pirates striker Lyle Foster netted his fifth goal of the game after being teed up by Mamelodi Sundowns’ reserve team captain Promise Mkhuma.
Neither side were able to find the winner after ninety minutes with the game having to be decided by the lottery of penalties. Goalkeeper Khulekani Khubeka emerged as the hero to ensure that Amajita defended their Cosafa Cup title.
