I don’t want to let anyone down – Cardoso

Published on September 7, 2018

Underperforming Kaizer Chiefs defender Daniel Cardoso admits that he is open to plying his trade in the midfield for the Soweto giants.

The former Free State Stars defender has been the subject of widespread criticism from Chiefs supporters after enduring an error-ridden start to the season, conceding mistakes in clashes against Baroka, Bidvest Wits, Mamelodi Sundowns and SuperSport United to name a few.

D. Cardoso error count (5) Turned by Laffor & Downs score. Misjudges ball in air & drags down Brockie for pen in 1-1 draw. Gets turned in midfield for Motupa’s third in 3-1 loss to Wits. Misreads ball & heads own goal v Baroka. Misreads ball in air for Masuku’s goal for Celtic.

Speaking to soccerladuma, the 29-year-old revealed that he would be willing to play in the midfield if Giovanni Solinas asked him to.

‘Put me anywhere on the field and I will do the job. You can put me at left back, right back, centre-back or central midfield and I will always try to do my best to help the team,’ he said.

‘This game is my bread and butter, this puts a roof over my head and I don’t want to let anyone down,’ he concluded.

Chiefs will look to bounce back from the disappointment of their MTN8 semi-final elimination at the hands of SuperSport, when they face Cape Town City in an Absa Premiership clash on 15 September in the Mother City.
