Evan Ferguson – Brighton’s bright future

Evan Ferguson has burst onto the scene, with the 18-year-old striker dominantly leading the line for Brighton and Hove Albion in the Premier League.

Brighton secured his signature after fierce competition from fellow Premier League rivals Liverpool in 2021 with the youngster opting for Brighton’s excellent record of developing talent and a clear path to first team football.

After less than a year in the academy, Ferguson made his debut for Brighton’s first team in early 2022 and has not slowed down since, providing 10 goal contributions so far this season in just 20 appearances in all competitions averaging a contribution every 84 minutes.

The Republic of Ireland international has been described as a combination of Manchester City’s Erling Haaland and Manchester United and Premier League great Wayne Rooney with many United fans believing he is the perfect long-term Striker for the club.

Ferguson’s power and athleticism allows him to compete with any defender one on one while his superb aerial ability provides the striker with a diverse range of play styles, whether it be as a focal point up front, playing in combination with Danny Welbeck or in a front-line consisting of Kaoru Mitoma, Solly March and World Cup Winner Alexis Mac Allster.

At just 18-years-old, there is still a long way to go for Evan Ferguson having made just 11 Premier League appearances in his career but this will not stop the best clubs in England from monitoring a player that is sure to lead the goal scoring charts for the next decade.
