Liverpool drop out of Bellingham race

Liverpool have reportedly dropped out of the race for long-term target Jude Bellingham.

The Reds’ owners, Fenway Sports Group, are not sanctioning the deal, believing the high transfer fee and wages required would prevent a substantial rebuild from taking place.

This news could not come at a worse time for Liverpool fans, with poor performances the norm due to an overworked and fatigued squad this season.

Liverpool have brought in just one midfielder in the last four seasons, leaving Jordan Henderson, Fabinho, Thiago, and James Milner physically and mentally finished after the club’s insistence on postponing midfield reinforcements to save funds for the Bellingham deal.

FSG will now face a level of scrutiny not witnessed since taking over the club more than 10 years ago, with the fans’ biggest criticism of the regime being a lack of willingness to invest in the squad. This is another example of Jurgen Klopp’s side being financially restrained compared to their Premier League opponents despite being among the wealthiest clubs on the planet.

The next transfer window will define the next era of the club, with FSG and Klopp under increased pressure to prove they are committed to the club’s future to ensure the failures of this season cannot be repeated.

Bellingham has been linked to Manchester City, Real Madrid, and Manchester United, who are all better equipped financially to complete a deal worth more than 130 million pounds.
