Liverpool are set to complete their first signing of the transfer window with the addition of Georgian goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili.
Valencia’s number one was a standout performer between the sticks at EURO 24, showcasing his talent to the biggest clubs in Europe after making 30 saves in the competition for Georgia.
Liverpool have reportedly agreed personal terms with the 23 year-old and are currently negotiating a fee in the region of £30 million with Valencia, who are holding out for a figure closer to £40 million.
Mamardashvili will not arrive at Anfield until 2025, with the deal including a one year loan spell at Premier League side Bournmeouth due to competition with current star Alisson Becker and to help the Georgian acclimatize to the physical demands of English football.
After the embarrassing collapse of the deal for Real Sociedad’s Martin Zubimendi, the Reds will be looking to save face with the signing of a Giorgi Mamardashvili who has the potential to be one of the best goalkeepers in world football.
