After a loan stint with AS Roma last season, Lukaku has now signed a three-year deal with Napoli for a reported £38 million plus add-ons, reuniting with his former coach Antonio Conte and finally moving on from a difficult period at Stamford Bridge. During his second tenure with Chelsea, the Belgian striker netted 15 goals in 44 games across all competitions following his loan move from Inter Milan.
Lukaku has netted more goals under Antonio Conte than any other coach. He scored 47 goals in 72 appearances with Conte across top European leagues, averaging a goal every 125 minutes.
After returning to Inter on loan, Lukaku joined Roma last season, scoring 21 times in 47 games, with an expected goals (xG) average of 0.33 per 90 minutes—the third highest at Roma, following Paulo Dybala (0.48) and Sardar Azmoun (0.47). Last season, he led Jose Mourinho’s Roma in total shots (65) and shots on target (28), with a shot conversion rate of 20%, placing him sixth among the club’s players.
