Successful British businessman and Ineos founder Sir Jim Ratcliffe has officially become a co-owner of Manchester United. Sir Jim has successfully secured a 25% investment into the Red Devils from the Glazer family.
Ratcliffe is a life-long Manchester United fan and will be taking full responsibility and control of all sporting decisions at the club. This effectively makes Sir Jim the new boss of all workings at United.
So far Ineos has had a positive start to their time at the club, securing Manchester City’s CEO Omar Berrada as their new CEO and are currently in negotiations with Newcastle for their sporting director Dan Ashworth, someone who is considered the best in class within the industry.

Less than 24 hours into his official co-ownership, Ratcliffe addressed many topics surrounding the club, including the future of Erik Ten Hag, the current state of Manchester United’s stadium Old Trafford as well as the controversial return of Mason Greenwood.
The overall narrative surrounding Sir Jim is his desire to bring Manchester United back to the summit of not only English Football, but return the Red Devils to the top of the footballing pyramid, bring back their status as one of the most feared teams in Europe. This idea was followed by a statement similar to that of legendary Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson when he took over at the club almost 40 years ago, ‘We will knock our rivals off their perch’.
“I’m on exactly the same page as Sir Alex Ferguson.”

It is too early to tell whether Sir Jim and Ineos will be a success at Manchester United, but it is hard to deny that there is now a clear path and direction the club is following, something that has been lacking on the red side of Manchester since the exit of Sir Alex more than a decade ago.
