Manchester City will still win the title

Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City have been one of the greatest sides to grace the English Premier League, only failing to win the league once in the past five years coming second to Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool.

This season Pep’s Sky Blues have faced stiff competition from former assistant Mikel Arteta’s firing Gunners. They have been behind Arsenal for most of the season, currently five points behind in second place.

Despite the deficitand far from looking their best, City have got what it takes to steal the title from the Gunners and make it their fifth Premier League trophy in the last six years.

This position is not unfamiliar territory for Guardiola’s side, when going toe to toe with Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool in what has been a managerial rivalry on par with Arsene Wenger and Sir Alex Ferguson, City have been more points behind with less games to play twice before. They have a squad of serial winners that do not look at a points difference and give up, but use it as motivation to continue their success.

Manchester City are the holders of the longest winning streak in Premier League history with 18 victories in a row, 54 points out of 54 points, discipline and drive of such nature have never been witnessed on such a consistent basis in English football history.

The depth of Manchester City’s squad is what will be the difference. In their most recent fixture against top four rivals Tottenham Hotspur, their bench was one of the most potent we are likely to see in world football history, with Kevin De Bruyne, Phil Foden, Kyle Walker, Joao Cancelo, Ruben Dias, Aymeric Laporte, Kalvin Phillips and Bernardo Silva all deemed not worthy of a place in the starting 11. They still managed to come away 4-2 winners.

This is the difference between the Gunners and City.  An injury to Thomas Partey, Martin Odegaard or Bukayo Saka could derail Arsenal’s season while City’s squad of winners will not feel the pressure of the five-point gap.
