Orlando Pirates produced a stunning fight back to come from two goals down to beat SuperSport United 3-2 at the Orlando Stadium on Wednesday evening.

SuperSport got off to a fast start as they were 1-0 up with just seven minutes gone. Jamie Webber whipped in a corner from the right which flew through the crowd of bodies in the box falling to Keagan Johannes at the back post who made no mistake and found the back of the net.

Pirates were struggling to defend at set-plays and were made to pay yet again on the 18th minute as Ghampani Lungu got on the end of this one to double his side’s lead.

It looked as though the visitors were going to take a 2-0 lead into the break until the game was turned on it’s head in the space of a couple of minutes. First Johannes brought down Kabelo Dlamini on the 45th minute mark, allowing Deon Hotto to step up and pull a goal back for his side as he hammered the ball down the middle of the goal.

Pirates were shown their determination as they flooded forward moments later and after Bandile Shandu struck the upright, Johannes conceded his second penalty of the night as he brought down Dzvukamanja who was following up. Hotto stepped up for the second time in as many minutes and yet again provided a clinical finish to snatch an equaliser heading into halftime.

The second half lacked the entertainment of the first as both sides struggled to create chances in front of goal.

The game looked to be heading to a draw but as they had done in the first half, Pirates scored late on as Mosele fired in a screamer from range in added time to complete the comeback for the home side.

In the earlier games of the day Marumo Gallants and Chippa United played out to a goalless draw while Maritzburg United and Sekhukhune United shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw.
