Premier League team of the week – Gameweek 10

Gameweek 10 of the Premier League saw Chelsea fumble once again at Stamford Bridge, The Gunners thrash Sheffield and Manchester City humiliate the Red Devils at Old Trafford.

Take a look at SoccerMag’s best 11 performers from Gameweek 10 of the Premier League.

We used buildlineup.com to put our team onto paper, but our selections are explained below.

Goalkeeper
Guglielmo Vicario – Tottenham Hotspurs
Vicario has quietly established himself as one of the most consistent keepers in the Premier League.  The Italian has been an integral part to Spurs superb start to the season and is contributing with huge saves.

Defenders
Takehiro Tomiyasu – Arsenal
Tomiyasu has returned to Arsenal’s lineup and is doing a fantastic job.  The Japanese international works tirelessly for the Gunners and got his first goal for Mikel Arteta’s side in their 5-0 win over Sheffield United.

Ethan Pinnock – Brentford
Another player that has gone under the radar, Ethan Pinnock is performing at the highest level.  Pinnock scored Brentford’s opener at Stamford Bridge, a nice way to top-off a resolute defensive performance.

Cristian Romero – Tottenham Hotspurs
Argentinian World Cup winner Cristian Romero is arguably the best central defender in the Premier League on current form.  His mentality and game IQ is among the best in the world.

Midfielders
John McGinn – Aston Villa
Scottish midfielder John McGinn is in the best form of his Aston Villa career.  He has begun to add goals to his game under Emery and scored Villa’s first against Luton.

Bernardo Silva – Manchester City
Bernardo Silva is one of the great Premier League midfielders of the modern era.  The perfect Pep Guardiola player, his ability both on and off the ball are of the highest tier.  Silva got an assist for City at Old Trafford but his overall contribution was more valuable to the team that a goal or an assist.

Antoine Semenyo – AFC Bournemouth
Ghanaian Antoine Semenyo is starting to gather attention with his performances this season.  Semenyo scored an amazing solo-goal against Burnley.  Semenyo is Bournemouth’s top scorer so far this campaign and does not look to be slowing down anytime soon.

Bryan Mbeumo – Brentford
Another fantastic weekend from Brentford and Bryan Mbeumo.  Mbeumo got a goal and an assist to help Brentford beat Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.  He is developing into one of the deadliest players in the Premier League.

Forwards
Callum Wilson – Newcastle United
Newcastle United will be disappointed with their draw at Wolves this weekend, but Callum Wilson did all he could.  The Striker’s brace should have been enough to secure three-points.  Wilson’s performances have few wondering about Isak’s return.

Erling Haaland – Manchester City
Norwegian brute Erling Braut made the Manchester derby his own.  Haaland scored the opening goal and added another later in the game.  Some have said he has been far from his best so far this season but he is still leading the charge for the Premier League golden boot.

Eddie Nketiah – Arsenal
Gabriel Jesus was not missed when Arsenal humiliated Sheffield United at the Emirates.  Eddie Nketiah stepped up again and bagged three of the best.  His third goal was an outrageous long-range finish that flew into the top left corner.  Hopefully Eddie can build on this performance and nail down a spot in the starting XI.
