Premier League team of the week – Gameweek 17

Gameweek 17 was another round filled with surprising results.  Manchester City dropped points to Palace, Arsenal regained top spot with a win over Brighton and Manchester United held on for a massive point at Anfield.

Take a look at SoccerMag’s best 11 performers from Gameweek 17 of the Premier League.

We used buildlineup.com to put our team onto paper, but our selections are explained below.
Goalkeeper: 
Andre Onana – Manchester United
The Cameroonian goalkeeper has had his performances scrutinized in recent weeks but his performance against Liverpool was crucial.  Liverpool had 34 shots at Onana’s goal and were unable to beat the Red Devils number one.

Defenders: 
Alex Moreno – Aston Villa 
Aston Villa continue their push for UEFA Champions League football and have gone just two points off top spot.  Alex Moreno scored a vital equalizer in Villa’s comeback win over Brentford away from home.

Dan Burn – Newcastle United 
One of the Premier League’s hardest working players, Dan Burn has been one of Newcastle’s best signings in recent years.  Mr reliable has put in standout performances all season and finished off a fighting Fulham with his goal in the Magpies three goal win.

Michael Keane – Everton 
Not so long ago, Michael Keane’s future in football looked away from Goodison Park, but this season the central defender has turned things around.  Keane scored a goal on top of an impressive defensive display that saw the Toffees get a cleansheet to Burnley away from home.

Rico Lewis – Manchester City 
One of the most exciting young talents in world football, Rico Lewis continues to impress.  The teenage fullback scored Manchester City’s second goal in their draw with Crystal Palace.

Midfielders:
Keane Lewis-Potter – Brentford 
Brentford may not have been able to hold onto their lead against Villa but one of the positives of their performance was 22-year-old
Keane Lewis-Potter.  The attacking midfielder scored the opener and had an overall solid display for the Bees.

Lewis Miley – Newcastle United 
Another exciting young Premier League talent is Newcastle’s Lewis Miley.  The 17-year-old has burst onto the scene due to Eddie Howe’s injury crisis and looks to be a star in the making.  Miley scored for Newcastle in their win over Fulham.

Lucas Paqueta – West Ham United 
Lucas Paqueta has been a joy to watch since his arrival from Ligue 1 and this weekend was the perfect showcase of his qualities.  Paqueta managed to assist all three of the Hammers goals in their victory over wolves.

Forwards:
Mohammed Kudus – West Ham United
One of the signings of the season, Ghanaian Kudus has been sensational.  The midfielder bagged a spectacular brace in a dominant West Ham win.

Gabriel Jesus – Arsenal 
Arsenal have retaken top spot in the Premier League and it was Gabriel Jesus who made the difference.  The Gunners dominated against Brighton but it took a great header from Jesus to get the breakthrough in the second half.

Dejan Kulusevski – Tottenham Hotspurs
Swedish winger Dejan Kulusevski has almost been reinvented by Ange Postecoglu since moving into a more creative role in the middle of the park.  Kulusevski got a goal and an assist in Spurs win over Nottingham Forest.
