Khama Billiat has extended his gratitude to the Amakhosi fans after winning the Absa Premiership Man of the Match award for Kaizer Chiefs against former team Mamelodi Sundowns.
The two sides played to a 1-1 draw at a packed Loftus Versfeld Stadium on Saturday afternoon, with Ricardo Nascimento’s penalty being cancelled out by a fine finish from former Masandawana captain Ramahlwe Mphahlele.

Billiat made mention of Chiefs’ fans in his post-match comments, saluting the fact that many of them made the journey from Johannesburg to Pretoria to see their team clash against the defending league champions.

‘Firstly I want to thank God for this opportunity and the supporters who have come in numbers,’ he said in post-match comments.

‘I know it has been tough for the past three seasons, but it’s water under the bridge and we’re ready to start the league.
‘It was a tough match, [Sundowns] is a good side I think we have done a lot of things we wanted to do and there’s still room for improvement.

‘We created not as many [chances] as we wanted to, but there are moments where we could’ve taken our chances but it’s a learning curve.

‘We learn every day. We take it positively. We are not too hard on ourselves, we take it one game as it comes,’ he concluded.
