Home to the largest community of Turkish emigrants in the world, Berlin will open up Brandenburg Gate “fan mile” for this evening’s last two round of 16 matches.
The fan mile at Brandenburg Gate is the size of 10 football pitches and is said to have a capacity of more than 50 000 people. The fan zone is also home to the largest football goals in the world, weighing over 40 tonnes.
This location has been reserved for the host nation Germany’s fixtures but with the huge Turkish support base in Berlin, Brandenburg Gate will be showing the “other” home team Turkiye’s tie against Austria tonight.
The fan mile will also be showing the penultimate round of 16 match which sees the Netherlands face-off against Romania at 6pm.
You may have seen that photo earlier of preparations for the #EURO2024 ‘fan mile’ in front of the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin.
Here it is again, along with a pic of the same area full of fans celebrating Germany’s 2014 World Cup success.
