Nigeria’s Ademola Lookman beat players like Achref Hakimi, Serhou Guirassy to win the accolade of CAF’s Men’s PLayer of the Year in Marrakesh.
Atalanta’s Ademola Lookman became the seventh Nigerian to win the CAF Men’s Player of the Year award following Nwankwo Kanu, Victor Osimhen, Emmanuel Amunike, Rashidi Yekini and Victor Ikpeba.
Lookman was also the only African player to be nominated for the FIFA Ballon d’Or as he finished 14th place in the rankings. The Nigerian striker scored 17 goal and 10 assists in 45 appearances under coach Piero Gasperini at Atalanta.
He became the second player to score a treble in the final of a major European competition for an Italian side.
