The illustrious three-time CAF Champions League winners, have reportedly offered a two-year contract to Rhulani Mokwena. Before committing to this new chapter, Mokwena has sought assurances about the club’s sporting project, transfer strategies, and training facilities.
Mokwena’s unexpected departure from PSL champions Mamelodi Sundowns sent shockwaves through the South African football community. His exit was particularly surprising given his recent outstanding season with Sundowns, where he led the team to an unbeaten 2023/24 campaign, securing both the DStv Premiership title and the inaugural African Football League trophy.
Should Mokwena take the helm at Wydad AC, he will be tasked with the formidable challenge of restoring the club’s status as top contenders in the Botola Pro 1. The team ended the 2023/24 season in sixth place, a clear indicator of the work that lies ahead. Additionally, Wydad will be representing Morocco in the FIFA Club World Cup next season, further underscoring the significance of Mokwenaβs potential appointment.
Wydad have tabled a two-year deal to Rulani Mokwena who is expected to arrive in Casablanca today.
He’s asked for assurances of the sporting project, transfers, and wants a tour of the facilities before making a final decision.
