Former Mamelodi Sundowns and Al Ahly coach Pitso Mosimane has been appointed as the head coach of Saudi Arabia giants Al Ahli Jeddah, the club announced on Sunday.
Mosimane parted ways with the Red Eagles in June this year after spending nearly two highly successful years in charge of the Egyptian giants.
During his time at Al Ahly, Mosimane led the team to three consecutive Caf Champions League finals, winning back-to-back titles in 2020 and 2021.
Mosimane also guided the team to two successive Caf Super Cup trophies, two Fifa Club World Cup bronze medals, one Egypt Cup as well as the Egyptian Super Cup.
After spending three months without a club, Mosimane has finally found a new home at Al Ahli, who he will help return to the top flight after they were relegated from the Saudi Pro League for the first time in the club’s history after finishing 15th with just 32 points.
Mosimane comes to the team struggling in the Yelo League First Division this season as they currently sit seventh in the league standings, with just eight points after five matches, having won and drawn two while conceding one defeat in the process.
“I am very excited for this opportunity and I can’t wait to meet my new team @ALAHLI_FC,” Mosimane revealed on his official Twitter page.
“Shukran to the Chairman, CEO, Board, players, & supporters for trusting us with this mission. We will do our best, recreate history & make the green nation happy.”
