Amrouche wants Bafana to qualify for Afcon

Amrouche wants Bafana to qualify for Afcon
Published on September 9, 2018

Libya coach Adel Amrouche says he want to see his side as well as Bafana Bafana qualify for the 2019 African Cup of Nations.

The Mediterranean Knights remain at the top of Group E after they held to a 0-0 draw by the South Afrcian national team at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday.

Amrouche says he was pleased with his side’s performance against Bafana, but says this is the type of football Africa needs to be producing.

‘Our players had chances to play in this [beautiful] ground, the ambiance. This game tactically is tough game. South Africa is not an easy team. The coach did a good job. I know that but people talk too much,” Amrouche told SuperSport TV after the game.

‘I had time to study his [Stuart Baxter] tactics. But I hope we get to the Afcon and also for South Africa. But for Libya because it’s difficult situation out there. A draw is better than loss.

‘I like samba football. This is Africa we need clever players. I’m happy for this draw. They need this happiness in Libya. I didn’t sign in Libya for money. I signed without money. I’m a human being. They need us. I want to thank Caf also for giving us this opportunity to play.

‘Football can bring Libya together. I hope I can write my name in the history [of Libya] like I did with Burundi before.’
