Bafana Bafana midfielder Aubrey Modiba says he will continue to work hard to maintain his place in the squad and play in the 2019 African Cup of Nations tournament.
The 22-year-old is currently with the South African national team participating in the Four Nations tournament in Zambia, where they will face the host nation in the final of the competition.
Modiba says his goal is to maintain a regular place in the national team setup and hopefully a place in Stuart Baxter’s squad for the Afcon tournament next year.
“That’s my goal right now. I have to work hard and make sure that I get a call-up regularly,” Modiba told KickOff.com.
“It’s not going to be easy because you’ve got a great bunch of players in the country and others who are playing abroad. So I just have to push and make sure that I make the team for Afcon. We also have to make sure we win as well.”
The SuperSport United midfielder has already racked up a total of five national team appearances since making his debut back in June 2016 under then coach Shakes Mashaba.
Bafana Bafana are set to go head-to-head with host nation Zambian when the two side’s meet in the final of the Four Nations tournament on Saturday, with kick-off set for 18:00.
