SuperSport United defender Tefu Mashamaite admits that winning the Caf Confederation Cup would be the highlight of his career.
Matsatsantsa are set to take on TP Mazembe in a two-legged final in their bid to claim honours in the African tournament.
The 33-year-old says he is looking forward to making his name with the club, as he has set his sights on claiming glory in the final against TP Mazembe.
“As an individual I think it will be the highest [achievement]. I have never been to the level where we are at with SuperSport, a continental final,” Mashamaite said ahead of the Caf Confederations Cup final.
“It’s a big one. I have been with Bafana Bafana before, but I have never been to this stage, so it’s something to look forward to, history in the making. It’s been a great journey, starting in Madagascar right up to here. So we need to take from the confidence we have built.”
The veteran defender believes his experience won’t count for much, but wants the team to head into the final with a positive mindset.
“Experience is a factor. Experience is something you can add on to your game, but first you have to be part of the team.”
“You have to be positive and be present on the day. We are looking forward to it. It’s another final, so we have to be positive,” he concluded.
The match at Stade TP Mazembe kicks off at 15:30.
