Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane admitted that he was not entirely happy with his sides 2-1 loss to Wydad Casablanca in their Caf Champions League first leg semi-final in Rabat but admitted the away goal could prove vital.
Wydad opened the scoring in Friday night’s clash but were pegged back just before half-time as Anele Ngcongca was in the right spot to head home after Hlompho Kekana’s strike was palmed into his path.
The Moroccan side may have scored the winner just after the half time break, but Mosimane praised his side’s performance.
‘While I’m not entirely happy with the result because we lost 2-1, I’m happy with the performance from the team bacause it’s always a difficult place for us here in Morocco but we improve,’ he told Downs’ official website.
‘We made a lot of mistakes at the back, but you have to understand that everyone is stressed because it’s the CAF Champions League semi-finals and everyone wants to go to the finals. I believe we should have cleared the ball in the first goal.
‘It was the first time I see Wydad so stressed at the back, it’s also because we scored the important away goal.’
Mosimane’s chargers will have to turn their attention back to the Absa Premiership for Tuesday nights clash against Black Leopards before the return leg on Saturday evening at the Lucas Masterpieces Moripe Stadium.
