As renovations are underway at the Camp Nou, FC Barcelona are auctioning pieces of their history through a ‘Memorabilia Project.’
Barcelona’s all-time top scorer Lionel Messi may well remain deeply connected to La Blaugrana, despite his locker is up for sale.
Used from his first-team debut in 2004/05 until his final season in 2020/21, the locker features a large image of Messi and bears the marks of his cleats.
The bidding for Messi’s locker surpassed R5.5 million with an additional 22% bidder’s fee bringing the total cost to at least R6.7 million.
The auction will continue until February 13, and the price is expected to climb even higher. Alongside Messi’s, other legendary lockers are on sale, including those used by Diego Maradona, Pep Guardiola, and Gerard Piqué, Ronaldinho, Neymar Jr., and Luis Suárez.
