Cape Town City coach Benni McCarthy believes his side have enough quality to beat SuperSport United in the final of the MTN8 on Saturday, writes Dylan Appolis.
Matsatsantsa will renew their rivalry with the Citizens on Saturday, after Eric Tinkler’s former side beat SuperSport to claim the Telkom Knockout trophy last season.
McCarthy is well aware of the threat SuperSport poses under Tinkler, but has urged his side to remain focused on the task at hand.
“The focus is not on Eric,” McCarthy said.
“What happened, happened, it’s in the past. We’ve all moved on. My focus now is just on my team.
“We have to be strong and tough, and we have to play with heart. It won’t be easy, but we have enough quality and we have players who can win games.”
The two sides are set to battle it out in the final of the MTN8 when they lock horns at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday, with kick-off set for 19:00.
