SuperSport United captain Dean Furman will be hoping his side can redeem themselves when they lock horns with Cape Town City in the MTN8 final on Saturday.
The Premier Soccer League confirmed that the final between SuperSport and the Citizens will go ahead as planned, despite the floods in Durban this week.
The Bafana Bafana midfielder admits that he still has their Telkom Knockout final defeat fresh in his memory. He will be hoping his side can redeem themselves when they face the Citizens on Saturday.
“This is a huge opportunity for us, and we’re highly, highly motivated. This has been a tournament that I think SuperSport have struggled in recent years and got knocked out in the early stages,” Furman told the media.
“We’ve now got ourselves to the final and, I wouldn’t say ‘revenge’ is the right word, but last year’s Telkom Knockout defeat is still fresh in our memories. I’m sure the coach [Tinkler] will know.
“But we haven’t forgotten that, and it was one that hurt us, so we need to put that right come Saturday evening.”
The match at the Moses Mabhida Stadium kicks off at 19:00.
