SuperSport United captain Dean Furman believes their 4-1 victory over Orlando Pirates in the final of the Nedbank Cup was their biggest performance of the season.
Goals by Bradley Grobler, Jeremy Brockie and Kingston Nkhatha sealed the victory for United, while Buccaneers captain Oupa Manyisa scored a consolation goal in stoppage time for his side.
The 29-year-old believes that his side produced the best performance of their 2016-17 campaign, while also insisting that he was equally impressed with Supersport’s defensive display on the day.
”That was one of our biggest performances of the season and I think we saved the best for last,” Furman told SuperSport TV.
”We were outstanding from start to finish, we had a game-plan, and we are delighted that after a long, hard season we have come out with something that we deserve. To retain the Nedbank is something that is very, very special for us.
”We have got massive discipline and everything comes from our structure and the way we work hard on the training pitch. And then we have got that freedom in our attacking play.
”You saw that many times tonight the boys were free to go forward, but then we had a backbone, which was absolutely solid and that made sure we kept the back door shut.
”All round it was a terrific team performance and I think it could have been more on the day.’
