Kaizer Chiefs confirmed that George Maluleka and Leonardo Castro are nursing their respective injuries ahead of Amakhosi’s Nedbank Cup clash against Stellenbosch.
Maluleka was sidelined for Amakhosi’s 3-1 defeat against Orlando Pirates, while Castro sustained a foot injury during the Soweto Derby.
Amakhosi’s medical team provided an update on their respective injury, which reads: “‘Mido’ is nursing an ankle injury which also kept him on the sidelines for the Soweto Derby on Saturday.
“George Maluleka is training in the gym under the watchful eye of the medical team.
“As a measure of precaution, Leonardo Castro was also training in the gym on Tuesday morning, as Leo felt a slight pain in his foot.”
Meanwhile, new signing Kabelo Mahlasela is ‘progressing well doing physical drills pitch side’ and striker Emmanuel Letlotlo has joined his teammates in training as the pair make their way back from knee surgery.
Kaizer Chiefs will play hosts Stellenbosch in their Nedbank Cup Last 16 encounter at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday, with kick-off set for 20:15.
