Cape Town City winger Gift Links feels he is yet to reach his full potential, despite recently finding form at the club, writes DYLAN APPOLIS.
The Citizens and SuperSport are set to go head-to-head for the fourth time this season after City beat United twice in the Absa Premiership and on penalties in the MTN8 final.
Links, who , is not satisfied with his currently form as he would like to add more goals to his tally, despite bagging a brace in their 5-0 thumping of Free State Stars in their previous league game at Cape Town Stadium last week.
In-form winger Links, who scored twice in his side’s last encounter, a 5-0 humbling of Free State Stars, feels City are well prepared for this encounter as they look to grab a second cup trophy of the 2018/19 campaign.
‘I’m not happy so far because I’ve played 10 or 11 games, but I’ve scored three, so I just want to score more goals,’ Links said.
‘Upfront there we are working well. Our combinations is working now, we combine and getting goals,’ he added. ‘We just need to be more direct against SuperSport United so that the chances we get, we have to make sure we take them.’
When asked about scoring a hat-trick in his next game, having bagged a brace in his previous game for the Citizens, Links said: ‘I don’t know we’ll see what happens on Saturday, but I just want to score one (goal),’ he added.
Cape Town City are set to welcome SuperSport United to Cape Town Stadium when the two sides meet in the Nedbank Cup on Saturday with kick off set for 8:15pm.
