Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal won two of their three August Premier League games, including victories over Wolves and Aston Villa. Leandro Trossard had a key role in Arsenal’s game against Aston Villa, scoring just two minutes after coming off the bench. Despite playing the second half with 10 men owing to Declan Rice’s red card, Arsenal managed to split points with Brighton & Hove Albion in their third match of the season.
Arne Slot (Liverpool)
P3 | W3 | D0 | L0 | GD +7
Liverpool head coach Arne Slot enjoyed a fantastic start as manager of The Reds, being the first Liverpool manager to win all three of his first three league matches since Graeme Souness in 1991. Slot’s Liverpool are one of just two teams, along with Manchester City, to have won all of their games in August. The Reds defeated Ipswich Town and Brentford 2-0, scoring four times without conceding before thrashing Manchester United 3-0 at Old Trafford.
Fabian Hurzeler (Brighton and Hove Albion)
P3 | W2 | D1 | L0 | GD +4
Fabian Hurzeler’s Seagulls finished August third in the standings, having gone undefeated in their first three games of a top-flight season for the second time. Brighton won away against Everton and at home against Manchester United, before drawing 1-1 at Arsenal. Hurzeler becomes the Premier League’s youngest ever permanent head coach to be nominated for Manager of the Month.
Pep Guardiola (Manchester City)
P3 | W3 | D0 | L0 | GD +7
Manchester City began up where they left off last season, winning three of their first three games, defeating Chelsea in the first and West Ham United and Ipswich Town in the next two. Guardiola’s side scored nine goals in August, three more than any other club.
