Premier League team of the week – Gameweek 11

Gameweek 11 of the Premier League was filled with controversy. Manchester City demolished Bournemouth at the Etihad, while Newcastle’s win over the Gunners saw VAR steal the show.

Take a look at SoccerMag’s best 11 performers from Gameweek 11 of the Premier League.

We used buildlineup.com to put our team onto paper, but our selections are explained below.

Goalkeeper

Thomas Kaminski – Luton Town
One of the great results of the weekend, Luton scared Liverpool. Kaminski was their man of the match, keeping The Reds’ barrage at bay. Darwin Nunez and Diogo Jota peppered the Belgian, but he stood up to the challenge.

Defenders

Vitaliy Mykolenko – Everton
Mykolenko has not had the best season, but then again few Everton players have. The Ukrainian had a solid performance against Brighton, putting the Toffees ahead early.

Nathan Collins – Brentford
Collins struggled to break into the first team at Wolves last year, but has shown his quality since moving to Brentford. Collins scored the Bees’ winner against a formidable West Ham.

Ola Aina – Nottingham Forest
The fullback was at Chelsea for nearly a decade but barely featured during his time in London. Now he has nailed down an important role for Forest since their promotion. Aina scored a screamer to put his side into the lead, capping off an overall impressive display.

Midfielders

Cole Palmer – Chelsea
Palmer has settled in well for the Blues. He scored Chelsea’s first against Spurs under pressure while facing a tough atmosphere. He looks to be one of the better pieces of business under the Boehly regime.

Bernardo Silva – Manchester City
Bernardo Silva is just simply one of the best players in the Premier League. Every week he drops a world class performance. Silva scored a brace against Bournemouth and dominated in the middle of the park.

Bruno Fernandes – Manchester United
Bruno has found himself in the spotlight recently, with many criticizing his role as leader of Manchester United. The Red Devils were far from their best against Fulham but definitely showed improvement. Bruno showed he can clutch for his team, scoring a 96th-minute winner his side desperately needed.

Mohammed Kudus – West Ham United
West Ham’s scouting department have an ability to bring exciting midfielders to the London Stadium with Kudus their latest edition. The Ghanaian hit the ground running and scored a brilliant goal against Brentford.

Forwards

Jeremy Doku – Manchester City
Doku dropped arguably the best individual performance from a Premier League player in their debut season in history. He was unstoppable. The Bournemouth defenders could not handle his quality and the Belgian came away with the opening goal and four assists.

Luis Diaz – Liverpool
It is no secret Luis Diaz has been going through a tough period off the field. His late inclusion into Liverpool’s squad for Luton was a big surprise, and the Colombian came on as a late substitute and made the difference, scoring an 95th minute equalizer, dedicating the goal to his father who remains kidnapped in his home country. A reminder that football is more than just a game.

Cameron Archer – Sheffield Unite
This was a huge weekend for Sheffield United. The side with the worst defensive record in the league needed to start scoring goals. Cameron Archer stepped up when the Blades needed him, helping his side get an important three points and their first victory of the season.
