Watch: From Non-League to the Premier League

Watch the Premier League players who went from Non-League football to the Premier League featuring Jamie Vardy, Nick Pope and Ollie Watkins.

Jamie Vardy’s journey to the Premier League with Leicester City included a stint in the Northern Premier League during the 2011/12 season, where he played for FC Halifax Town, scoring 24 goals and helping them win the title before joining the Foxes in the 2012/13 season.

Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins played League Two football for Exeter City from the 2013/14 season to 2017 where he played 5788 minutes of football (78 appearances) and scored 26 goals and 17 assists provided. Watkins later moved to the Championship in 2018 joining FC Brentford before making his way to the Villa Park in 2020.

As for Nick Pope, the shot stopper played Championship football for Charlton Athletic in 2011, then made a move to Cambridge United, Aldershot Town, York City, Bury FC, and ultimately landed a deal with then Premier League side Burnley FC in 2016 and is currently Newcastle United’s No.1.
