Bidvest Wits coach Gavin Hunt insists that his team are on the right track ahead of their Telkom Knockout semi-final clash against Kaizer Chiefs on Saturday.
The Clever Boys head into their semi-final clash against Chiefs on the back of a poor showing in the domestic campaign. However, Hunt isn’t too fazed about his side’s dismal form, saying that there aren’t many differences between them and Steve Komphela’s men.
“Well, sometimes things happen like that in football. You come across a situation and you stumble across it‚ don’t you?” he said at a press conference.
“It sort of finds its own way‚ That’s what normally happens with teams.
“The problem with us is that we haven’t found a way because we’ve had so many [injury disruptions].
“The right side is out‚ then the central midfield is out.
“Our defence has been out. So we are still sort of stumbling around to get a consistent eight or nine in our selection‚ which we haven’t.
“So that’s been the biggest problem we’ve had.
“So if you compare us to‚ like‚ a Chiefs‚ that hasn’t happened [for us]. But we’re still in good spirits,” he added.
Hunt also bemoaned the fact that two of his players (Sifiso Hlanti and Thulani Hlatshwayo) haven’t returned from doing duty with Bafana Bafana.
“Actually right now I think they know more about us than me.
“I mean we’ve got two players who haven’t come back from Bafana‚ and Sifiso Hlanti played two games,” he concluded.
The two teams clash at the Bidvest Wits Stadium, with kick-off set for 15:30.
