In recognition of his outstanding UEFA Champions League career, UEFA announced it will present a special award to Cristiano Ronaldo at the 2024/25 UEFA Champions League draw ceremony in Monaco.
Ronaldo stands as the all-time top goalscorer in the UEFA Champions League, having scored 140 goals in 183 matches throughout his 18-year career. Ronaldo leads the Champions League goalscoring record by 11 goals over Lionel Messi in second place and 46 goals over Robert Lewandowski in third place.
His first Champions League goal came in his fourth season, when he scored twice in Manchester United’s quarterfinal victory against Roma in 2007. The next season, Ronaldo won his first Champions League trophy with Manchester United, defeating Chelsea in the final with Ronaldo scoring the only goal of the game.
The Portuguese international went on to win four more Champions League titles with Real Madrid, one of which he scored 17 goals in 11 matches. Ronaldo’s final season in the Champions League saw him score six goals in seven appearances for Manchester United.
