Bafana Bafana coach Stuart Baxter says he is pleased with Erick Mathoho progress following his bad patch for club and country.
The 27-year-old returned to the national team after missing their previous Fifa World Cup qualifier against Cape Verde and Burkina Faso respetively due to suspension.
The South African national team will welcome Senegal to the Peter Mokaba Stadium in their next World Cup qualifier on Friday.
“Tower has been progressing. I think Tower had a patch where he was a little bit unsure of himself,” Baxter told the media ahead of Bafana Bafana’s must-win clash against Senegal.
“Maybe he was thinking too much about things that were happening around him, [but] I think he has been progressing nicely to get back to his normal self.”
With the return of Mathoho and captain Thulani Hlatshwayo, Baxter has a tough decision to make on who to field in defense against the Lions of Teranga.
“I wish I had headaches like that all over the field. Morgan and Clayton did well against Burkina Faso. They know each other very well,” he added.
“So we are going to look at all the options and the combinations and we will pick the squad that we think will be most unpleasant to play against.”
Bafana Bafana against Senegal kicks off at 19:00.
